- Why build a skate park for skateboarding and in-line skating?
- Kids need a safe and fun place to skateboard and in-line skate. The skatepark we have now in Lewiston is old and poorly designed. The new skatepark will also give skateboarders a better place to skateboard than out in front of local business, something the the present park does not do. The new skatepark will be set in a safe park-like setting suitable for both skaters and spectators. We want everyone to have fun - parents, children, and skaters!
- How much will it cost?
- If we use Grindline or Dreamland builders for a skatepark, we will have a great park no matter how much money we spend. But, the more money we have, the better the park will be. Ideally, we’d like at least $400,000 to build a skatepark that will not only be great for local skaters, but will bring skaters to the valley.
- Who’s going to pay for it?
- Funds for the new skatepark will be raised in a variety of ways. Local skaters will organize fundraising events like skate competitions, car washes, booths at events such as the Dogwood Festival, rummage sales, etc. Donations from businesses and other individuals will also fund the park.
- How can I help?
- There are plenty of opportunities to help out! You can volunteer at events like car washes, skate competitions, etc., or donate time and money to the building of the park. We need all the help we can get and welcome anyone wanting to get involved!
